Brans-Dicke Scalar Field as a Chameleon

چکیده
In this paper it is shown that in Brans Dicke theory, if one considers a non-minimal coupling between the matter and the scalar field, it can give rise to a late time accelerated expansion for the universe preceded by a decelerated expansion for very high values of the Brans Dicke parameter ω.

Role of the Brans-Dicke scalar in the holographic description of dark energy
We study cosmological application of the holographic energy density in the Brans-Dicke theory. Considering the holographic energy density as a dynamical cosmological constant, it is more natural to study it in the Brans-Dicke theory than in general relativity. Solving the Friedmann and Brans-Dicke field equations numerically, we clarify the role of Brans-Dicke field during evolution of the univ...

Pauli (or Einstein) frame is used to study the Brans-Dicke gravity theory, minimally coupled with dilatonic Brans-Dicke scalar field, whose solutions involve degenerate metrics. Some of these solutions exhibit transitions from an Euclidean domain to a Lorentzian space-time corresponding to a spatially flat Robertson-Walker cosmology.

متن کاملScalar field as an intrinsic time measure in coupled dynamical matter - geometry systems . I . Neutral gravitational collapse
There does not exist a notion of time which could be transferred straightforwardly from classical to quantum gravity. For this reason, a method of time quantification which would be appropriate for gravity quantization is being sought. One of the existing proposals is using the evolving matter as an intrinsic 'clock' while investigating the dynamics of gravitational systems. The objective of ou...
متن کاملRenormalization in quantum Brans-Dicke gravity
In the Brans-Dicke model we treat the scalar field exactly and expand the gravitational field in a power series. A comparison with 2D sigma models and φ perturbation theory in four dimensions suggests that the perturbation series in 4D Brans-Dicke model is renormalizable.
